Health Guarantees and Breeding Philosophy

Polarbear White Shepherds is a responsible and ethical purebred breeder. We believe that breeding for health and temperament should take priority over breeding for show and appearance and only dogs whose breeders hold this philosophy and provide full health guarantees, should be considered reputable. Polarbear White Shepherds does temperament and intelligence testing on all our puppies in order to select the RIGHT DOG FOR YOU!

We are an ethical breeder and we support and contribute to the White Shepherd Genetics Project, an association of White Shepherd enthusiasts and veterinary science professionals whose goal is to educate and coordinate all owners, breeders and admirers worldwide of the White Shepherd, White German Shepherd Dog or Berger Blanc Suisse and to increase awareness of and improve upon the health, temperament and instincts of this marvelous breed.

OUR HEALTH GUARANTEE

We are one of the few breeders to offer a complete 100% birth defects and health Guarantee. A copy of our contract is available upon request. Our breeding pairs are tested for Canine Hip Dysplasia through either OFA or PennHip for dogs. None of our Polarbear White Shepherds have any serious genetic abnormalities in our pedigrees that we are aware of and you are welcome to research our lines in the links at the bottom of this page. We are committed to reporting any irregularities through the White Shepherd Genetics Data Base. In addition, we regularly monitor all of our offspring by maintaining relationships with the owners of the dogs we have sold and we participate in our White Shepherds Genetics forum. Your Puppy's Health and Vaccinations

Your puppy is guaranteed to be in good health at the time of sale and guaranteed to be free of genetic defects. The puppy is sound in body, good health, and is free of communicable disease as far as appears to the eye. It has received at least one set of vaccinations and has been wormed and treated as recommended by a veterinarian, and when shipped by air, comes with a veterinarian health and acclimation certificate. A veterinarian must confirm illness within 72 hours of arrival. After that, the health of the dog is the responsibility of the buyer. We vaccinate for Canine distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvo, and adenovirus type 2. The puppies are also wormed.

We provide a Polarbear Health Packet which includes a health certificate and standard German shepherd health guarantee. Because we only have a few dogs and they are free to roam on our property, we have fewer problems with viruses and infections that may occur in a large kennel where many dogs are kept in cages or confinement. Our 100% health guarantee insures that you will be getting a healthy dog with none of the usual problems of hip displacia or other hereditary ailments. We have never had anyone return a puppy or dog that was not happy nor have we ever had any serious health problems with any of our dogs at any time. The first generation of Polarbear White Shepherds, now seniors, are strong, healthy, vigorous and show no signs of slowing down-- you can see for yourself when you come and pick out your puppy!

Your puppy comes with a registration application to the country's premier registry for purebred dogs, the American Kennel Club. Polarbear White Shepherds offers Full and limited registration.
